Blinded by my own

So there I was
As you spoke and waited for your applause
Not for anything special, not even a cause
But for your far-fetched self proclaimed laws.

Without shame and with your pride
Pillared by selfishness you chose to decide
With every step and every stride
You’re aim all along was simply to misguide.
But did you think that you could hide?
Each time you talked to me and easily lied
You should have considered that besides us there’s a world outside!

A life filled with deceit
Mendacious stories constantly on repeat
Made me accustomed to daily defeat
To believe nothing contrary could come to compete.

But wait...
It is I who gave you all this on a golden plate
From the perished decades to date
I hold the power to control this debate.

I have sat down all these years
Shadowed by frail and all my fears
Submerged in an ocean filled with my tears
But now to my knowledge; my silence is my weakness

Why have I allowed this?
To feel like I’m trapped in an oceanic abyss
To accept without question or ignore and dismiss
Are these memories what I wish to remember in the future as I reminisce?

By electing you my leader
I hoped that you were a great achiever
I gave you power and remained a believer
By making you my friend
I stood bare, honest and my hand always I would lend
Never to pretend and do my best never to offend

Blinded by your words and my unrealistic vision
The hurt, struggle and lack of my intuition
Has slowly driven me to a strong decision

So here I am telling you
My ignorant silence is no longer my weakness
Through my voice I have uniqueness
No longer will you have power over me
Because just like an animal in the wild, I am free
I choose to educate myself and learn
Protected I shall be against all that threatens to burn
I will not hurt and I will not bleed
Your lies and deceit will never succeed
But as I uproot this false and deceitful seed
I plant a tree of wisdom, knowledge and good deeds.
It will yield understanding for generations to come
and finally wisdom through silence will speak as loud as a beating drum.

Wise is he who not only knows the truth,
but strives to educate the youth.
